Fortune favors the bold and this client was looking to make a statement in a weekend home for his art collection and love of Miami especially during Art Basel.

We were fortunate to begin the project while the building was still under construction. The extra time allowed us to work closely with the building engineers to prepare the space to achieve the Lifestyle.

The client had approved the purchase of a large and very heavy sculpture for the public areas. We knew due to the weight and size that it wouldn’t fit in the elevators.

The post-tension slab concrete floors meant the installation of the Bernard Venet sculpture had to be taken very carefully and deliberately before the curtain wall was finished being installed which meant the sculpture lived in a large crate the whole way through construction before it was finally revealed.

Renovation of the space was time intensive due to several hurricanes but the completed apartment makes all of the up-front work look effortless.

The ocean plays the primary role in the penthouse and since the colors of the water change moment by moment, it was decided that the interior color palette be bleached white stone and plaster.

The furniture floats in every room furthering the sense of being on the water. Silk area rugs throughout are in the colors of sherbert and the upholstery is white on white. The kitchen is set on a dais furthering the drama of the space and providing stellar views.

Through a glass curtain wall, a large laser-cut lucite bed dominates the primary suite with the adjacent bath clad in sheets of backpainted glass.

Glass as wall is a continued theme along the passage to the bedrooms as they are interior so that the circulation can exist in parallel to the balconies.
