The Brooklyn Penthouse was a developer-build complete with generic finishes. Tasked with creating the perfect family home in the sky, we set out about adjusting the floorplan to add the necessary components for Lifestyle and Livability.
We started first with the entry sequence fashioning a formal foyer with a mudroom directly adjacent. Next, the Great Room was capped in architectural detailing to envelope the room creating a new fireplace, dry bar, custom dining room sideboard all the while hiding a lighting system, ductwork and AV dressed in a modernized venetian plaster with silver leaf in the wax. The kitchen was maximized with an extra deep peninsula, cabinetry was stretched floor to ceiling and the addition of a speed oven, coffee machine and second dishwasher rounded out the necessary appliances. Existing structural elements were clad in matte glass which set off the cerused gray oak cabinetry and iridescent glass brick tile backsplash.
To create privacy for the Primary Suite, the entry door was moved from the Great Room (creating the dry bar) and relocated to the end of the bedroom passage. The shift also allowed for the addition of two more closets.
The Great Room, Kitchen and Primary Suite are adjacent to the terrace which was landscaped with irrigation and specialty lighting.
The secondary bedrooms were customized with color, lighting and window treatments.
The hall bath serves the Secondary Bedrooms and Guests as a Powder Room so it’s impact is felt in the stark white solid surface with a spike of green for accent.
