Upstate New York Farmhouse

The farmhouse began its story in the 1800’s and included a dirt-floor barn which was being used as a garage.

In order to create the Lifestyle and Livability, a daring move was undertaken that would also capitalize on the view from the rear of the home: the barn was converted to a double height Great Room maintaining the original post and beam construction. To highlight the handhewn posts and beams with “twig” pegs, the walls and ceiling were rendered in a faux finish evocative of wear over time. A four-season porch was constructed along the length of the Great Room with accordion windows and screens to take advantage of every season. On the opposite of the porch, an oversized mudroom was constructed below the loft to deal with all outdoor activities.

A wing was constructed off of the converted barn to include the relocated garage and above the Primary Suite replete with Study and indoor/outdoor gas fireplace.

To achieve the salvage of the original structure and the new wing, we incorporated modern building technologies of geo-thermal heated floors and the structure clad in Structural Insulated Panels (SIP).

The interior of the Farmhouse receive an updated and enlarged kitchen with Butler’s Pantry, updated Dining Room and new bathrooms.

The majority of the antiques were sourced on shopping trips to Europe.
